Every year in February, all Global Pet Foods locations in Canada take part in the week-long "Show Us Your Heart" fundraising campaign which raises funds for the animal charity chosen by the local stores for that year.  Funds are raised through a combination of dollars from generous customers and matching funds from Global Pet Foods ® and Hill's Science Diet ®.  We are proud to note that since the campaign started, the HRM store locations have been the top fundraisers in the country chain-wide.

Greyhound Friends of Nova Scotia (GFONS) were thrilled to be the beneficiaries of the funds raised this year by Global Pet Foods: Bedford-Dartmouth-Halifax. On Sunday June 19, at Sir Sanford Fleming Park in Halifax, GFONS held their annual Meet & Greet and Fundraiser event called "Hounds on the Park". Global Pet Foods was there to present GFONS with a cheque for over $6600!

We have participated in the “Show Us Your Heart” Campaign since its inception five years ago, we not only support this annual campaign, but throughout the year we contribute to numerous local and regional animal charities. "GFONS is just one of the many groups that have benefitted from their generosity. We can't thank the staff of the three locations enough for their time and effort put into helping our cause and also raising awareness about greyhound adoption", says Belinda Gurnham, Chairperson of GFONS.

GFONS has created a number of programs in support of greyhounds in the region. Through their fundraising and awareness events throughout the year, they primarily provide financial assistance to owners of greyhounds with extraordinary medical needs, help with the search for lost greyhounds, as well as working with Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada for volunteer recognition and constant improvement of the adoption kennel for the group.  If you would like to learn more about the programs run by GFONS, please visit their web site at
